Stronghold WP

Features

Two parts: protection that is always on, and modules you turn on as needed. Works with any theme.

Protection layer

It runs as a must-use plugin (mu-plugin). Nobody can switch it off by accident in the dashboard.

Site status

Checks your site and tells you what to do — one step at a time.

  • Changes to files and administrator accounts
  • Comparison with the original WordPress, plugin and theme files
  • Suspicious code and known vulnerabilities

Antivirus

Scans files on the server and moves threats to quarantine.

  • Proven scanners and custom patterns
  • Requires the included server component

Two-factor login

A code from a phone app, plus recovery codes. For someone without an app, the technical caretaker can enable an e-mailed code (accounts without administrator rights).

Firewall

Blocks common attacks hidden in the page address (such as code injection attempts) before WordPress even starts.

Maintenance mode

During maintenance, visitors see a notice and logged-in users see the site.

Caretaker dashboard

Issues, accounts, security status and the activity log — who changed what, and when.

Security tipA file change nobody planned is often the opponent’s first visible move. When Site status shows an unexplained change, check it right away — not after the weekend.

Modules

Turn on only what you need. A disabled module doesn’t slow your site down.

Protection

Hides the login page, closes old back doors (XML-RPC, the file editor), limits access to your site’s data (REST API) and adds security headers.

Logins

Limits failed attempts, requires strong passwords, rejects leaked passwords and logs sign-ins.

Media cleanup

Folders, file replacement without changing the address, tidy uploads and missing image descriptions.

Mail

Sends e-mail through a real mail server (SMTP, e.g. Microsoft 365, Gmail, Brevo), so messages land in spam less often. With your template and a test send.

Contact form

A contact form without extra plugins.

Broken links

Finds links that don’t work and suggests replacements.

Statistics and redirects

Counts visits without cookies. Redirects addresses that have disappeared.

Cookie notice

A consent bar with categories. Embedded videos and maps wait for consent.

Accessibility

Visitors can enlarge text, switch on high contrast, increase spacing and stop animations themselves.

Tasks and Dashboard

A team task list with priorities and a tidy Dashboard with quick shortcuts.

Mourning, Slider, Duplicate

Mourning mode, a home page slider and one-click post duplication.

Security tipDelete plugins and themes you don’t use. A deactivated plugin still sits on the server, and its vulnerability is waiting for its move.

What it looks like

In the dashboard

Site status: the messenger reports two urgent issues — a known vulnerability in the PHP version and an unneeded file on the server
Site status — what needs attention, in order, with a hint on what to do.
Site uptime panel: 99.90% uptime over 7 days, an uptime bar, a response time chart and a downtime table.
Site uptime — uptime for the last 24 hours, 7 or 30 days, response time and every outage with its time and cause. Requires the server component.
Activity log: a list of logins, publications and account changes with date, account and address.
Activity log — who changed what on the site and when: logins, content, accounts and updates.
Statistics: 14,217 page views in 30 days, a daily chart, most viewed pages, traffic sources and devices.
Statistics — visits without cookies or third-party services: page views, most-viewed pages, traffic sources and devices.
Broken links: four addresses to fix, with a suggested replacement and a Replace button.
Broken links — addresses that stopped working, with a suggested replacement and a one-click fix.
Task “Update the accessibility statement”: checklist items, comments, assignee and due date.
Tasks — assignee, due date, checklist and comments in one place.

On your site: what visitors see

Stronghold WP also works on the public side of your site. It adds what visitors and regulations expect: accessibility options, cookie consent and notices for special occasions. Everything matches your site’s colours and follows WCAG (the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).

A school website with the accessibility panel open and the largest text size selected.
Accessibility — one button opens a panel with larger text, high contrast, underlined links, an easy-to-read font, wider spacing and a way to stop animations. The visitor’s browser remembers the choice.
Cookie settings window with the External content category switched on.
Cookie consent — a banner with equally prominent Accept and Reject buttons, plus settings for each category. Videos and maps from other services appear only after consent; until then, a placeholder stands in their place. Visitors can change their consent at any time.
A school website showing a chess tournament slide.
Image slider — images fade smoothly into one another. The slider has a pause button, stops under the mouse pointer and during keyboard use, and can be swiped on a phone. We load the next images only when they are needed.
A school website in greyscale, with a mourning ribbon in the corner and a mourning notice at the top.
Mourning — during mourning, the site turns grey, a black mourning ribbon appears in the corner and a short notice is shown at the top. You can set the start and end in advance.
A maintenance notice on a school website.
Maintenance mode — visitors see a clean notice with the expected return time, while logged-in users see the site as usual. The notice refreshes itself once the site is back.
A school website footer with a band of green chess pieces.
Chess-piece foundation — below the footer, a band of rooks, knights and pawns in your site’s colour: our signature. It can be switched off.
